African Enterprise

  • African Enterprise (AE) was founded by Michael Cassidy and has as its mission to evangelize the cities of Africa by word and deed in partnership with the local church. Because of all the human needs, AE has expanded its ministry to areas such as primary health care, immunization, feeding, and community development. AE has established a new team in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, under the leadership of Rev. Nico Nteme, a Presbyterian. This is one of the most difficult and needy places in Africa. The team is French-speaking and in order to gather support for their evangelistic ministry, they have a tent-making project raising poultry and pigs.

AE has a program that addresses the AIDS epidemic in Africa, particularly in Uganda. AE is launching an abstinence-based AIDS Awareness and Training program. Pray for continued protection for the staff as they are working in many dangerous areas of Africa. And pray for continued goodwill among all of the various denominations.

San Juan Bosco Orphanage Tecate, Mexico

Painting the Medical clinic Painting the Medical clinic

As families who live in Mexico and Central America move northward in search of an escape from poverty, some children - many of them boys - are abandoned by their families. Other children are removed from their homes by Mexican government officials for their own safety. Finally, there are children who are truly orphaned: both of their parents are deceased.

Although some separations between children and parents are temporary, some are permanent. Regardless, many Hispanic and Latino children are in need of shelter.
Organized nearly twenty years ago, the Rancho San Juan Bosco (RSJB) orphanage sits on approximately three acres of land on the western edge of Tecate, Mexico. (Tecate is located on the U.S./Mexico border.) RSJB was established for boys onlyand at this time can accommodate up to forty children ranging from ages four to seventeen. Expansion plans are underway to increase their capacity to eighty children, including infants.

Rancho San Juan Bosco Orphanage is:

  • run by a director and staff members dedicated to helping abandoned and abused children in Tecate.
  • used to rehabilitate street children and reunite them with any existing family members or a new family.
  • providing Christ-centered stability in the lives of children by teaching them about the love of a heavenly father who will never abandon them.
  • providing educational and life-skills opportunities.
  • occupying a vision for expanding this project to include more children as the budget provides.

Although the orphanage is able to provide safety for lost boys in Tecate, it is not supported by the Mexican government nor is it affiliated with any national denomination or church group. Therefore, RSJB is completely dependent upon the generosity of others, both locally and in the U.S., to sustain the lives of these children

Foothill Unity Center, Monrovia, CA

The Foothill Unity center helps neighbors in crisis attain self-sufficiency by partnering with the community and using our resources wisely to provide
vital support services with love and dignity.

They provide support in the form of food, clothing, motel vouchers, and referrals/advocacy to our neighbors in crisis.  As the need for food brings people to them, they listen to problems and help find solutions. They work with other agencies to provide long-term shelter, counseling, medical, educational, employment and spiritual assistance depending on the person's needs.

The Foothill Unity Center helps people return self-sufficiency. All services are provided with love and dignity by:

  • Providing low-income families and children with sufficient nutrition to maintain good health,
  • Increase employment and educational opportunities for those at risk because of poor job skills or illiteracy,
  • Educate the community with facts (and thereby overcoming negative stereotypes) about homeless and low-income people who are trying to stabilize and improve their life situations.
